Paul Campbell: 'Buy-to-let seems to have been around for sometime. Believe me it does work. I started my portfolio some 15 years ago and although I haven't as many properties in my portfolio as I would like due to work commitments, I do have a vast knowledge and experience in this field.

Dealing in property should be fun and is profitable if you do it right. I am passionate about it, but I too have made mistakes in my 20 years of dealing in property.

Over the past few years, property prices have just escalated and while those good times will probably not happen again, there is still plenty of scope for profit. Behind the scenes, Daventry is undergoing change for the better and although some might say for the worst, we have to accept that the town will expand and bring more housing and more money to the area.

Compared to our neighbouring towns, property prices are lower. With so many successful, thriving small to medium sized businesses around Daventry, property is in short supply. This means that we will see steady profitable growth in our area for a few years yet. You only have to sit in my offices in the High Street during a weekend to witness the volume of people moving into the area, both renting and buying. “Why do you want to come to Daventry?” I often ask. Property price is often one of the reasons, but most of the time it is because people feel relaxed when they visit and they genuinely like our town.

My expert knowledge of buy-to-let is within a 15 mile radius of Daventry, however the concept can be applied anywhere in the world, as I have proven further a field. The principles of buy-to-let are the same everywhere.
