Mark and Mel need our help!
With only a few days to go, our Franchise Director, Mark Heycock and his partner, Mel Cotton are on the final countdown to competing in this year’s Virgin London Marathon.
Mark and Mel are once again running for the charity SENSE, the leading national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are both deaf and blind – a charity that continues to do so much good work.
“I can’t deny that the long runs over the past few weeks have been a challenge – I think it’s fair to say that the older you get the harder it gets …. aching muscles and keeping blisters at bay have also been challenge too!” said Mark.
“I was trying to work out how many miles we have actually run so far and I stopped counting at about 750 miles between us! That’s not including our two evening visits a week to the gym!”.
Mark still has a massive challenge though – he is a couple of hundred pounds away from his target – and needs a little more help.
“We are so close, but yet still so far away – if we could just reach out to a few more people we will reach our fundraising target – if we exceeded the target that would be FANTASTIC” added Mark.
There are around 13,200 deafblind people across the West Midlands and this is set to more than double to 20120 by 2030.
The money raised by Mark and Mel in the Virgin London Marathon will help deafblind children and adults overcome the isolation that they face on a daily basis and enjoy some of the things that most people take for granted.
If you are able to help Mark and Mel reach their target then please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Mark-Mels-London-marathon-page or alternatively, feel free to pop into our High Street office in Daventry and leave your donation there.
