There is something rather fitting about settling into a village hall on a December evening and listening to the sounds of New Orleans.
On Friday 4th December 2026, Kilsby Jazz Club welcomes the Alligator Gumbo Band for an evening of live New Orleans and swing-era jazz at Kilsby Village Hall.
The six-piece band takes to the stage from 8pm, with a charity raffle during the interval and a relaxed bring-your-own-refreshments format.

New Orleans and swing jazz in Kilsby
The Alligator Gumbo Band is a six-piece live jazz band performing music inspired by the New Orleans and swing eras.
That means an evening built around the lively rhythms, melodies and character that made traditional jazz such an enduring style of live music.
For anyone who already loves jazz, it is a chance to enjoy a full live band close to home.
For anyone who has never been to one of Kilsby Jazz Club’s evenings before, this is also a very easy way to give it a try.
A jazz club with plenty of history
Kilsby Jazz Club has been hosting live jazz in the village for around 40 years.
The club stages four jazz evenings each year at Kilsby Village Hall, bringing established bands from around the UK to a local audience.
The musical themes vary throughout the year, covering styles including:
Traditional jazz
New Orleans jazz
Swing
Parisian hot jazz
It is quite a remarkable programme for a village venue between Rugby and Daventry.
Music with a charitable side
The evenings are not only about the music.
Kilsby Jazz Club also uses its events to raise money for local charities.
The club supports two charities at each event, meaning eight different charities can benefit during the course of a year.
Over the years, Kilsby Jazz Club says it has raised more than £17,000 for local causes.
A charity raffle will be held during the interval at the Alligator Gumbo Band evening.
