If you have ever wondered what goes on inside Rugby Town Hall, Heritage Open Days offers a rather nice opportunity to find out.
On Monday 14th September 2026, visitors are invited to Tea & Talk with the Mayor, a free lunchtime event combining a visit to the Council Chamber with tea and conversation in the Mayor’s Parlour.
The event runs from 12pm to 1pm and gives local residents the chance to see parts of the Town Hall they may not normally visit, while learning a little more about the civic life of Rugby.

The event forms part of Heritage Open Days, the annual celebration that opens up historic buildings and gives people the opportunity to discover more about the places on their doorstep.

The visit begins with a tour of the Council Chamber.
For most people, the Town Hall is a familiar Rugby landmark, but there are plenty of residents who may never have stepped inside the room where Full Council meetings take place.
This is an opportunity to see the Chamber for yourself and learn a little more about how it is used.
Tea with the Mayor
Following the Council Chamber visit, guests will be welcomed into the Mayor’s Parlour for tea and a talk with the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Nooria Sayani.
Cllr Sayani became Mayor in May 2026 and serves as Rugby’s First Citizen during her year in office.
The role is primarily ceremonial and community focused, with the Mayor representing the borough at events and helping to raise awareness of local charities, organisations and businesses.
Her theme for the mayoral year is pluralism, with a focus on connection, compassion and cohesion across Rugby’s communities.
A different way to discover Rugby
Heritage Open Days is often about discovering the history hiding behind familiar buildings.
Rugby Town Hall is somewhere many people will have passed countless times, but may know very little about what happens inside.
This one-hour visit gives residents the chance to look beyond the public-facing parts of the building, see the Council Chamber and spend some time in the Mayor’s Parlour.
It is a simple event, but that is part of the appeal.
