Rugby town centre will be filled with colour, culture and celebration on Sunday 1st November 2026 as the town comes together for its annual Diwali Celebration.

Known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is celebrated by millions of people around the world and is a time associated with light, family, community and new beginnings.

Rugby’s celebration will run from 2pm to 7pm, bringing cultural performances, live entertainment, food and family activities into the heart of the town.

It should make for one of the most colourful dates in Rugby’s autumn calendar.

Event Details

Time: 2pm to 7pm
Location: Rugby Town Centre
Entry: Free
Organiser: Rugby Borough Council

The event forms part of Rugby’s wider town-centre events programme and is designed as a welcoming celebration for the whole community.

Celebrating the Festival of Lights

Diwali is often described as the Festival of Lights, with celebrations traditionally bringing together families, friends and communities.

Light plays an important role in the festival and is commonly associated with hope, positivity and the triumph of light over darkness.

Rugby’s celebration gives residents and visitors the chance to enjoy some of those traditions through a programme of cultural performances, food and entertainment in the town centre.

Cultural performances and live entertainment

Performance will be an important part of the afternoon and evening.

Visitors can expect cultural performances and live entertainment, with music, dance and colour helping to create a lively atmosphere across the event.

The detailed running order may vary, so it is worth checking the official Rugby events page closer to the date if there is something in particular you would like to see.

Food and flavours to discover

Food will also be part of the celebration.

Visitors can expect a selection of food alongside the entertainment, making it easy to spend a few hours in town and enjoy the event at a relaxed pace.

The final trader line-up may be announced closer to the date.

You may head in looking for something specific, or simply have a browse and see what catches your eye.

A celebration for the whole town

One of the nicest things about Rugby’s Diwali event is the way it brings different parts of the community together.

You do not need to celebrate Diwali yourself to come along, enjoy the performances, discover the food and learn a little more about the traditions behind the festival.

It is simply an opportunity to enjoy a lively cultural celebration in the centre of Rugby.

Do you need tickets?

No.

The Rugby Diwali Celebration is free to attend and no advance booking is required for general admission.

Simply head into Rugby town centre between 2pm and 7pm on Sunday 1st November.
