Living in Daventry

The market town of Daventry retains much of its historic charm. Set amongst the rolling hills of the Northamptonshire uplands which are a natural extension of the Cotswolds, the town offers a rare and sought after balance of urban and rural lifestyles, whilst being projected as an important area for regeneration.

Still maintaining a market town feel, Daventry has a street market which is held every Tuesday and Friday in the High Street, although its original site was on the aptly named Market Square.

Daventry Town Centre

If you have the time, spend a little longer in this delightful historic market town to look at the interiors of the buildings as you browse the shops, for many date back to the 15th century.

Daventry town centre offers a variety of independent boutiques and larger stores for all those must haves!

The Latest addition to the town, The Arc Cinema, has proven to be extremely popular adding a touch of luxury when going to see a film.

The town has two main public parks, Daventry Country Park, which features a large children’s play area, fitness equipment, a range of marked walks, nature trail, cafe and Daventry reservoir. The smaller Daneholme Park is quite close by and is bounded by the old railway cuttings, Daneholme Avenue, Ashby Road and Welton Road.

There is a leisure centre in the town centre which is well attended

It features a swimming pool area, gym and a number of multi-sport areas. A children’s soft play area and cafe provide non-sports based facilities.

Golfers can enjoy the surprisingly challenging course at Daventry and District Golf Club, which is effectively on the side of Borough Hill, or head slightly out of town to Staverton Park Golf Club.

2013 saw the opening of a purpose built skate-park on New Street Recreation Ground, this was constructed in consultation with local youth groups and features challenges for boarders of all abilities.
