Living in Crick

Crick is a fantastic village that so many people are eager to move into. If you ever visit, make sure you have a good drive around the area. The village has so much character to offer as do the friendly people that live here.

Why not take a walk down the canal and have a coffee at the local coffee shop, Pickle and Pie.

Commuting from Crick is amazing with J18 of the M1, the A5, M6 and M45 all being so close.

In The Area

Mainline rail services are popular with Long Buckby, Rugby or Northampton just a short drive away.

Local shops include a Co-op, the post office run by Chris and Margaret (lovely people) as well as various other little boutique shops, pubs and restaurants dotted around the village.

There is also a Primary School in the heart of the village and for the older ones, there are school buses running from the highly regarded Guilsborough School.

However, the two highly regarded, grammar schools, Lawrence Sheriff and Rugby High, are accessible through the eleven-plus examination, and there are further State-funded alternatives including Ashlawn in Hillmorton and the new secondary school at Houlton, to say nothing of the world famous, fee-paying Rugby School.

It is unclear where the name Crick comes from. Some believe it was derived from the Celtic word ‘Kreik’ which means rock or cliff, other believe it may have come from the Middle Age term ‘Creic’ which could have been a derivation of creek – i.e a small stream, the original small streams in the area would have provided water for the early settlers.

The history of the village goes all the way back through the times of the Doomsday Book all the way back to the Iron Age! Remains of Roman history have also been found in the area.

The Leicester Line of The Grand Union Canal runs just around Crick and the Crick Tunnel is 1397m long!

Over the May Bank Holiday the Crick Boat show is a must see and the Crick Scarecrow Weekend in July is a real community treat.

As it stands, Crick has 48 listed buildings within it’s parish, all of which are Grade II listed except for St. Margarets Church which is Grade I.

Crick has a growing population that is now approaching 2,000.

Crick really has a distinctive rural character due to the village being surrounded with a 360 view of the rolling hillside.

Crick offers the perfect village lifestyle with it’s many walks that are right on your doorstop including Cracks Hill, Millennium Wood and of course, the beautiful Grand Union canal.

I’ve specialised in selling property in Crick and the surrounding villages for a few years now and I am amazed at how much involvement we now have in the local community.
Don’t get me wrong, I also love selling properties in Daventry, Rugby, Northampton and other areas in Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. In fact more recently we have sold properties all over the country. However, I have a particular close relationship with Crick, West Haddon and Yelvertoft, I just love these villages and it is a pleasure to spend so much time in them.

David and Sian were both amazing at Campbells. They were really attentive to our questions, always happy to help where they could and making a somewhat stressful situation feel easy. They guided us through everything we needed to know and made sure we were confident in every decision we made. Can’t recommend them enough. Thank you again

What a pleasure it has been to buy our dream home with Campbells. Have nothing but good things to say From speaking to Nicola initially who was so nice and welcoming when we registered our interest to our purchase being handled so well by Jamie and Sian every step of the way. We have never come across an estate agency that are as helpful and kind as their staff! They put our estate agent for our sale to shame! A special shoutout to Sian who was a superstar with our purchase who went way above and beyond her duties to get our purchase done in a timely manner despite a few hurdles at our end along the way. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she kept us in the loop of what was going on every step along the way. I would not hesitate to reccomend Campbells to anyone looking for an estate agent to use. Thank you so much for helping us find our dream home to bring up our little family in. - Natalie & Aidan

Amanda and the team at Campbells have been great. I used the express sale route and exchanged in under a month. I’ve bought and sold a number of properties and this was by far the quickest and easiest sale and conveyancing process on both sides. From the introduction to a trusted solicitor, to the regular updates, it was great. I’d highly recommend the service.

We used Campbells to sell our house recently, and despite a reasonable chain of 5 houses everything went through relatively smoothly. I chose Campbells because they were the estate agent when purchasing our house. At the time, we had just come out of a collapsed chain several months in with a different property and estate agent. In contrast, Campbells were far more thorough in qualifying their buyers (including me), to a level that would likely have prevented the issues that caused our previous chain to fall apart. Stan was our assigned agent and did a great job of grouping viewings together and around times that worked for us, and with a toddler and a pregnant wife that was a real help. Stan would always let us know how the viewings had gone, follow up with potential buyers and relay their thoughts back to us. If Stan wasn't available then the Campbells team were always friendly and easy to get in touch with when needed. Above all, everyone I've dealt with at Campbells has been genuine and helpful. I've always found them honest and direct, which is a welcome relief from the approach of some of the other agents we had to deal with during the process. I would certainly highly recommend their service.

We were unexpectedly put in the position of having to sell our parents home in Daventry. We spoke to a few estate agents but Amanda Loydall from Campbells was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and gave us great confidence that we would sell the property and in a timely manner which is what we needed to hear. I would say I have had bad experiences in the past with Estate Agents however the process with Campbells has been seamless and exactly how Amanda explained it would be. We received an email outlining what would happen, the contacts we needed and a solicitor. We had a process where the potential buyers would view the property over 2/3 days and they were all vetted to make sure they were suitable for the property. This worked so well and we were very impressed by how smoothly this process was and we were informed every step of the way. We also had a what’s ap group which gave us quick connections and information throughout the process. We would like to thank Amanda and her team at Campbells for making this a smooth successful process and would highly recommend Campbells for your property journey.

What an amazing team at Campbells! Having had a bad experience previously with another local estate agent, who’s only response was “reduce the price”, my surveyor recommended Campbells as an alternative. From the initial phone call with Rhian and then meeting Stan and Jamie, it was like night and day in comparison! Professional, friendly and really helpful, making a stressful process really easy. A special mention for Stan French who helped navigate the process of dealing with Housing Association for shared ownership sale and first time buyer! I would, without hesitation, recommend Campbells when selling your home!
