Daventry will come together on Sunday 8th November 2026 for the town’s annual Remembrance Parade and Service, honouring those who served and sacrificed in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend, whether joining the crowds along the parade route, gathering at the War Memorial for the act of Remembrance, or attending the church service afterwards at Holy Cross Church.

The morning begins on Daventry High Street, where those taking part will assemble before the parade moves through the town towards the War Memorial.

Event Details

Date: Sunday 8th November 2026
Gathering from: 10am
Parade departs: Approximately 10.30am
Starting point: Daventry High Street, outside Argos
War Memorial service: Following the parade
Church service: 11.30am at Holy Cross Church

The parade is led by the Parade Master and includes veterans, serving personnel, civic dignitaries, standard bearers and local organisations.

Groups including Scouts, Brownies, Guides and other members of the Daventry community also traditionally take part.

The parade route

The parade will form on Daventry High Street before stepping off at approximately 10.30am.

It will travel along the High Street and onto Abbey Street, before arriving at the Daventry War Memorial.

Members of the public are invited to gather safely on the path opposite the War Memorial for the short service.

Remembrance at the War Memorial

The service at the War Memorial will include the calling of the Roll of Honour and the laying of wreaths by local dignitaries, representatives of the Royal British Legion and community organisations.

The Last Post will be sounded, followed by the traditional two-minute silence.

It is a simple but important moment in Daventry’s civic calendar, giving people across the town the opportunity to stand together and remember those who gave their lives in service.

Holy Cross Church service

Following the service at the War Memorial, the parade will continue to Holy Cross Church.

The Remembrance Day service begins at 11.30am and is led by Daventry Churches Together.

Members of the public are very welcome to attend.

Road closures on Remembrance Sunday

There will be several road closures in Daventry town centre during the morning.

High Street will be closed from 9am and will remain closed for the duration of the parade.

Market Square, New Street and Abbey Street will close from 10am while the parade and service take place.

Anyone travelling into town is advised to use one of Daventry’s public car parks and walk to the High Street.

It is worth allowing a little extra time, particularly if you are hoping to be in place before the parade begins.

Do you need to book?

No.

The Daventry Remembrance Parade and Service is a public civic event and there is no ticket or advance booking required.

People can simply gather along the parade route or near the War Memorial to take part in the act of Remembrance.

The church service at Holy Cross Church is also open to members of the public.
