Living in Kilsby

Kilsby is a village and civil parish located in the county of Northamptonshire, in the East Midlands region of England. The village is situated around 5 miles east of the town of Rugby and 10 miles west of the town of Daventry.

Kilsby has a long history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as “Chilesbi”, and was historically an important stop on the coaching route between London and Holyhead.

Today, Kilsby is a small but vibrant community with a range of local amenities including a community village shop, a primary school, a village hall and two very nice pubs.

The village is well-served by a highly rated, public house that offers a fabulous food and drinks menu ‘The Red Lion’ as well as the newly opened pub/restaurant ‘The George,’ which has also become extremely popular. There is also a local community shop.

Kilsby is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is situated close to a number of popular outdoor recreational areas, including Draycote Water, a large reservoir that is popular for fishing, sailing, and other water sports. The village is also within easy reach of a number of other towns and cities in the area, including Rugby, Daventry, and Northampton.

Sporting activities in the area include shooting at Barby Sporting, Barby Cricket Club, Kilsby Tennis Club and a large range of local gyms in both Rugby and Daventry.

Overall, Kilsby is a picturesque and historic village with a strong sense of community and a range of local amenities and recreational opportunities.

The excellent road networks surrounding Kilsby give immediate access to the A5, A14, A361 as well as the extensive motorway network. There are train services from Long Buckby and Rugby where Virgin Trains provide a high-speed service into Euston in well under an hour.

There is an excellent range of educational facilities in the area including: Rugby Public School, Lawrence Sheriff Grammar School and a range of outstanding village primary schools, of which one is Kilsby C.E Primary School.
