Living in Long Buckby
The village of Long Buckby, which like Northampton, once had a thriving shoemaking industry, lies midway between Northampton and Rugby and only two miles from the famous Watford Gap.
It is a large parish of about 5,000 people which includes two smaller settlements of Murcott and Buckby Wharf.
Buckby Wharf sits on the Grand Union Canal near the Leicester Arm junction. There are some lovely walks along the towpaths in the area and you can while away an afternoon watching narrowboats navigate several flights of locks nearby.

Commuting
If you ever have to commute then that’s really easy – all major road networks including the A5, M1 and M6 are close at hand.
Long Buckby boasts one of the very few villages in the country with its own main-line railway station, offering access to Birmingham New Street, London Euston and all the major towns in between (it’s on the London Midland Line).

Long Buckby offers a wide range of amenities and services, including a dentist, doctor’s surgery as well as various private complementary medicine practitioners, as well as a veterinary surgery
The village has three main churches: Baptist, Church of England and United Reformed.
Shopping & Eating
Long Buckby has a good range of shops all in the village centre including two well stocked supermarkets, a chemists, a butchers, gift shop, artisan bakery and café, along with several hairdressers. There are two public houses, one with a good restaurant, and a micro-pub selling locally brewed craft ales and ciders. There are also two Indian restaurants, a Chinese and several take-aways.
Schools
Both the infant school and junior school are in the heart of the village and for the older ones, there are school buses running from the highly regarded Guilsborough School and there are other secondary schools in Daventry.
Sports & Leisure
There are various sporting clubs including cricket, rugby, soccer and hockey. There are also two licensed clubs, a gym and a large community centre. There are several clubs and societies offering a wide range of activities for all ages.
